Job summary

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology (Special Procedures). The RN will provide specialized nursing care before, during, and after diagnostic and minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures, collaborating with physicians and the care team to ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • DC RN License required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Requires ONS/ONCC certification.

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for cardiac cath/IR procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and obtain informed consent verification.
  • Monitor patients during procedures including hemodynamic monitoring and sedation.
  • Assist physicians during angiograms, angioplasty, stent placement and other procedures.
  • Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment and emergency resuscitation tools.
  • Provide post-procedure recovery care and discharge education.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and ensure safety compliance.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology (Special Procedures) (Full Time)

The Cardiac Cath Lab / Interventional Radiology RN provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic, interventional, and minimally invasive cardiovascular and radiology procedures. This role collaborates closely with physicians, technologists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care before, during, and after procedures. The RN is responsible for patient assessment, procedural support, sedation monitoring, recovery care, and emergency response within the Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, obtaining informed consent verification, initiating IV access, and providing patient/family education.
  • Monitor patients during procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and moderate sedation administration/monitoring in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Assist physicians during procedures such as angiograms, angioplasty, stent placement, thrombectomy, embolization, biopsies, vascular interventions, and other minimally invasive procedures.
  • Operate and monitor specialized equipment including hemodynamic monitoring systems, contrast injectors, and emergency resuscitation equipment.
  • Recognize and respond to complications or emergencies, including arrhythmias, respiratory distress, bleeding, or cardiac arrest situations.
  • Provide post-procedure recovery care, including sheath removal, hemostasis management, monitoring for complications, and discharge education.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, radiation safety, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and department competency programs.
