Job summary

The George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, is seeking an Interventional Radiology (IR) RN to support patients before, during, and after image-guided procedures in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

As part of the IR team, you will monitor patients, administer sedation, assist physicians, and educate families. A DC RN license, BLS/ACLS, and 1 year of critical care or IR nursing are required; BSN and CRN/RCIS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Current DC RN license or eligibility to obtain one.
• BLS and ACLS (AHA-certified) are required.
• Minimum 1 year of critical care, emergency, or IR nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor patients for IR procedures.
• Administer moderate sedation and medications as needed.
• Assist physicians during image-guided interventions.
• Monitor patient status and document care during procedures.
• Provide pre- and post-procedure education and support.
• Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and team members.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts.

Unit Overview

The Interventional Radiology (IR) unit at GW Hospital is a specialized area where patients receive minimally invasive, image-guided procedures for a variety of complex conditions. The IR team works in a technologically advanced, fast-paced environment, providing high-quality care and collaborating closely with physicians, technologists, and nurses to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Job Summary

Our Interventional Radiology (IR) nurses provide specialized care for patients undergoing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures in a dynamic, collaborative setting. As an IR RN, you will support patients before, during, and after procedures, assist physicians with interventions, and ensure patient safety in a high-acuity environment focused on teamwork, innovation, and continuous learning.

Required

Qualifications

• Current DC RN license (or eligible to obtain)

• CRN or RCIS certification

• Experience in high-acuity procedural settings
