The role you’ll contribute:

The Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates the efforts of the multidisciplinary care team for patients within his/her scope of responsibility. The RN provides direct patient care, collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to deliver care to a specific patient population. The RN utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to maintain and improve patient outcomes.

The RN demonstrates leadership and management skills, professional accountability, and growth. The RN aims to advance from novice to expert and become an evidence-based scholar to provide optimal patient care and advocate for patients. The RN serves as a role model for Shawnee Mission Health’s mission, vision, and values, working within the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, and established policies and procedures.

• Utilizes the Nursing Process (Assess, Plan, Implement, and Evaluate) to provide optimal patient care.
• Demonstrates accurate assessment skills appropriate to the patient population, based on evidence, policy, and practice standards, regardless of patient complexity or need.
• Ensures patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures, utilizing safety resources such as mPPID, and implementing care plans addressing physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
• Prioritizes nursing interventions based on patient needs, in conjunction with unit activities and available resources.
• Participates actively in bedside shift reports, safety huddles, multidisciplinary rounds, and hourly rounds to gather information, anticipate needs, and ensure smooth hand-offs.

Required Qualifications:

• Kansas Registered Nurse License
• BCLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or obtained within 4 years of employment
