Job summary

Ascension Living is seeking a Nurse Leader for the Skilled Nursing department in Chicago, IL. This role provides hands-on clinical leadership to ensure high-quality care on the floor.

You will drive regulatory compliance, oversee audits and performance improvement, and support hiring, onboarding, staffing, and education for a strong nursing team. The position requires an RN license and a nursing diploma, with at least 5 years of nursing experience and 2 years in a leadership role.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Nursing is required.
• 5 years of nursing experience; leadership experience preferred.
• 2 years in a leadership/management role; more preferred.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Provide hands-on clinical leadership for daily skilled nursing operations, stepping in on the floor to ensure high-quality care.
• Oversee CMS, state, and federal regulatory compliance through audits, quality monitoring, and ongoing performance improvement.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and staff education to build and retain a strong nursing team.
• Manage resident admissions, discharges, and interdisciplinary coordination to support floor staff and drive optimal clinical outcomes.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

Work Experience

• 5 years of experience required.
• 10 years of experience preferred.
• 2 years of leadership or management experience required.
• 5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

• BLS Provider preferred.
