Job summary

SMA Healthcare in Daytona Beach, FL seeks a part-time Registered Nurse to provide adolescent care in our programs. You will perform assessments, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and coordinate with the healthcare team.

The role requires Florida RN license, BLS/ CPR, and ability to work 8-12 hour shifts; experience in primary or mental health settings preferred. This position offers benefits including health, dental, and 403b.

Registered Nurse - Adolescents - Part-Time

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides quality nursing careto clients in accordance with established agency and program guidelines.
  • Performs initial and ongoinghealth assessments, assesses patient integrated healthcare needs, andidentifies any barriers to accessing care.
  • Assesses situations and usessound judgment in applying medical or emergency intervention techniques.
  • Properly administersmedication; documents results; takes vital signs on clients.
  • Monitors patients for changesin health status after medication change, change in key health indicators,hospitalization or any assessed decline in function or presentation.
  • Monitor lifestyle factorsaffecting health and assist the client with goal setting to achievebehavioral change.
  • Provides client educationspecific to client age and condition.
  • Utilizes effective infectioncontrol techniques and methods.
  • Obtains and reviews priormedical records and medical history to evaluate for scope of care.
  • Communicates effectively with clients,peers, professionals, and community agencies regarding client needs.
  • Participates in staff meetingsas required by program guidelines.
  • Arranges medical appointments,makes referrals, and coordinates with community medical providers.
  • Arranges and coordinates labwork and advises of unusual laboratory results.
  • Handles verbal and /orphysically abusive, aggressive clients, utilizing de-escalation techniques toensure safety.
  • Performs timely and accuratedocumentation of client care in SMA's EMR, and in accordance with programpolicy and procedure.
  • Confirms client payer sourceand obtains authorizations when required by program guidelines.
  • Performs related work asrequired/assigned.
Qualification Requirements:

Minimum Education and/or Experience

Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. Experiencewith healthcare delivery in primary care, mental health and/or substanceabuse preferred. Current BLS Certification or CPR Certification as requiredby program. Additional education and/or experience may be required as perspecific program guidelines.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities
  • Must beknowledgeable and demonstrate competency in current principles and practicesof healthcare delivery in diverse populations to include mental health andsubstance abuse.
  • Must beknowledgeable and demonstrate competency in computer skills includingEmergency Medical Records.
  • Demonstrates abilityto quickly assess situations and use sound judgment in applying medical oremergency intervention techniques.
  • Ability to develop acollaborative therapeutic alliance with individuals and/or family membersserved and other members of the integrated healthcare team.
  • Ability tocommunicate effective both verbally and in writing.
Necessary Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid Florida driver's license, acceptable drivingrecord, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive anSMA vehicle and/or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State ofFlorida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment. Complete SMA required training during thefirst six (6) months of employment and updated if required. Current BLS Certification or CPR Certification as required by program.

Physical:

Mobility and ability to bend andreach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 10 pounds. Visual andauditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record clienthealth care needs. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, dailycorrespondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work enduranceability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. Workassignment locations may vary.
