IU Health in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an RN to join the Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit on the full-time day shift. The RN will deliver care to children and adolescents with complex behavioral and emotional needs in a fast-paced, educational environment.

You will work with an interdisciplinary team on treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, and de-escalation as needed. This role requires RN licensure in Indiana, ASN or BSN preferred, and BLS/certifications as required.

Qualifications

  • Requires an ASN; BSN preferred.
  • Active RN license in Indiana or approved NLC.
  • Must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program; exceptions possible with >2 years acute care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to children and adolescents with complex behavioral and emotional needs.
  • Works with an interdisciplinary team on treatment planning and implementation of therapeutic interventions.
  • Involves de-escalation and establishing therapeutic boundaries as part of patient care.

Our Adolescent Inpatient Psych Unit is hiring for a full-time day shift position! The RN for this unit delivers care to children and adolescents with complex behavioral and emotional needs. The Registered Nurse in our Behavioral Health Department supports two primary areas: the Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and the Behavioral Health Access Center, (Psychiatric Holding Unit). RNs have the opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team and are involved in the treatment planning and implementation of therapeutic interventions specific to each patient’s goals. As a Registered Nurse in Adolescent Psychcompassion, leading nursing enrichment activities, establishing therapeutic boundaries,and being comfortable deescalating situations are all necessary components of patient care. The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency.   • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
