Job summary

The University of Southern California’s Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide therapeutic care using the nursing process within an interdisciplinary team. The RN coordinates patient care and education for patients and families, following standards, policies, and practices in a compassionate, supportive environment.

Key duties include assessments, diagnoses, plans of care, interventions, documentation, and discharge planning across medical-surgical units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.
• 1 year acute inpatient hospital experience in the United States as a licensed RN is required.
• Excellent communication skills, including spoken and written English.
• Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions and ability to perform duties including blood collection and apheresis.
• Committed to excellence in patient care and customer service.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Follows policies and procedures; accesses online manuals.
• Transfers learned scientific knowledge into nursing practice.
• Completes Nursing Assessment upon admission, at each shift, and with change of condition.
• Interprets assessment information and formulates Nursing Diagnoses.
• Develops Plans of Care with individualized interventions and documents outcomes.
• Administers medications and IV therapy per policy; delegates tasks; acts as patient advocate.
• Documents all care and ensures charting is complete; completes chart checks.
• Provides patient/family education as needed.
• Collaborates with Case Manager for discharge planning and ensures transfer paperwork is complete.
• Uses patient care equipment safely according to guidelines.
• Communicates effectively with the healthcare team.
• Manages time and prioritizes responsibilities; completes shifts on time.
• Adheres to regulatory requirements (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
