Journey Mental Health Center Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver professional nursing services across diverse populations in a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed environment.

The RN will work with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate medication services and support consumer progress toward treatment goals. The role requires Wisconsin RN licensure, expertise in mental health care, and the ability to collaborate with prescribers, case managers, and therapists.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure with the state of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in mental health and/or substance use disorders is essential.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced settings.

Responsabilités

  • Provide professional nursing services to diverse populations in recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care.
  • Collaborate with case managers, therapists, and prescribers to integrate medication into recovery plans.
  • Monitor medication compliance and assess medical/mental status.
  • Perform nursing triage and manage medication dispensing areas.
  • Assist in admissions and discharges coordination with the clinical team.
  • Participate in program meetings, trainings, and JMHC-wide initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to BID requirements and background checks for all applicants.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing services to diverse populations. S/he will provide culturally sensitive care and services to consumers, and works closely with a multidisciplinary team to plan, coordinate, and deliver medication services in all programs that are recovery oriented, and trauma informed. The required annual service hours are 1352. The Registered Nurse reports directly to the RN Team Leader with overall program supervision provided by the Nurse Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:
A. DELIVERY OF CLINICAL SERVICES
  • Ensure that services are culturally sensitive, promote principles of recovery, are trauma informed and promote consumer participation
  • Work with case managers, therapists, and prescribers to ensure that medication is integrated into consumer recovery plans
  • Maintain contact with consumers to a degree sufficient to monitor and assess progress towards medication compliance
  • Assess medical / mental status and side effects and report observations back to the clinical team
  • Contribute to the functioning of the clinical teams in all programs, supporting and covering for other team members as necessary while engaged in nursing duties including answering the phones, monitoring areas where medication is dispensed, processing refill requests and medication evaluations from prescribers and perform nursing triage duties
  • Participate in arranging crisis management services as clinically and programmatically appropriate and necessary
  • Coordinate clinical services with those of other JMHC areas and outside agencies and assist in problem resolution around clinical issues
  • In coordination with the clinical team assist in coordinating admissions and discharges
B. ADMINISTRATIVE
  • Participate in program meetings, training programs and other designated program functions
  • Participate in JMHC-wide training programs and community education as assigned
  • Complete all other assignments/duties as assigned by the respective programs supervisory team, the Nurse Manager and the Medical Director
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Education/Licensure
ESSENTIAL
  • Current licensure with the state of Wisconsin as a Registered Nurse
PREFERRED
  • BSN or MSN
Experience
ESSENTIAL
  • Extensive experience working with individuals who have mental health and/or substance use disorders or other behavioral health issues
  • Advanced knowledge of psychotropic medications
  • Ability to work collaboratively on teams with prescriber, counselors, and crisis service workers and to interact and communicate effectively with outside service organizations
  • Ability to work in collaborative relationships with a variety of disciplines and philosophies
  • Commitment to provide culturally sensitive, recovery oriented, and trauma informed services to diverse populations
  • Commitment to provide community-based services for persons with multiple needs and inadequate resources in addition to providing direct service
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to be flexible and a creative participant in a changing system
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, afavorabledriving record, adequate insurance (per WI law) and access to a vehicle
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing).

  • Bilingual
Physical Requirements:
  • Requires sitting, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching; and the ability to use and operate standard office equipment, including computer, calculator, phone, printer, cell phone, facsimile, etc.
Working Conditions:
  • May require evening or weekend hours depending on program needs.
Hiring Requirement:
  • All potential candidates will need to successfully pass the Background Information Disclosure (BID) for entity employees and contractors. Wisconsin’s Caregivers Law requires background, and criminal checks are required by the Department of Health Services and Wis. Stat. 50.065(6)(c) and Wis. Admin Code § DHS 12.05(4)
