Job summary

Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD is seeking a part-time RN for a 12-hour day shift in the 2 South ICU. The unit provides care to patients with complex medical needs and is staffed by intensivists, RNs, and health unit coordinators.

The nurse will plan and manage care using the nursing process and support mission-driven care. The role requires RN licensure in Maryland (compact acceptable), BSN preferred, BLS and unit-specific life support training.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN or MSN preferred.
• Current Maryland RN license or compact state license.
• BLS certification; additional Life Support training as unit requires.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate interdisciplinary patient care using the nursing process.
• Educate patients and families and ensure continuum of care planning.

Description:This 30-bed intensive care unit provides care to patients with complex medical needs that require critical care modalities and interventions. 2 South ICU is staffed by intensivists, registered nurses, and health unit coordinators. Staff receive support from advanced practice nurses.

General Summary: Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates acceptable performance and applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of routine patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates fundamental patient/family information to health care team. Identifies and communicates variances from patient goals. Responsible for providing and coordinating interdisciplinary patient care utilizing the nursing process. This job description, performance appraisal and competency assessment applies to all Registered Nurses who have successfully met performance expectations for Registered Nurse. The employee supports the Mission of CHE Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

Minimum licensure/certification required (if applicable):Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) preferred.Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.BLS certification; additional Life Support training as applicable to unit requirements.Professional specialty certifications may be required in accordance with departmental standards or role requirements.

$40.09 - $57.69

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift patients/patient care equipment up to 35 pounds. Must be able to push, pull, and move patients and patient care equipment. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist and be able to kneel. Must be able to utilize a computer for periods of time throughout the shift.

Visual Acuity:

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly at distances close to the eyes.

Auditory Acuity:

Must have sufficient acuity to identify auditory alarms in noisy environments.

Environmental Conditions:

The worker is subject to hazards associated with a hospital environment.
