Job summary

SALMON Health and Retirement is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to coordinate total nursing care for residents at our Northborough campus. You will work with physicians, residents, families, and the care team to provide high-quality nursing support.

The RN will assess needs, administer medications, document care, and mentor LPNs/CNAs while adhering to policies and regulations. This on-site role requires MA licensure and CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Massachusetts RN license/registration.
  • Meets applicable state continuing education requirements.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress and in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of adult and geriatric care and the ability to provide care appropriate to the resident population.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and document residents' conditions and nursing needs.
  • Develop goals and appropriate nursing interventions based on resident needs.
  • Administer medications and perform treatments as ordered.
  • Accurately complete required clinical documentation.
  • Report pertinent observations and changes in resident condition to physicians, nursing leadership, and appropriate family members.
  • Assign nursing care to team members based on resident needs and staff qualifications.
  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate LPNs and CNAs.
  • Participate in the development of individualized nursing care plans.
  • Coordinate resident care with therapy and other departments.
  • Assist physicians with tests and procedures within the RN scope of practice.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and changes in resident condition.
  • Assist with the orientation of new nursing personnel.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and comply with all facility policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents and staff.

Our RNs coordinate and provide quality nursing care while working collaboratively with nursing staff, physicians, residents, families, and other members of the care team.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates total nursing care for residents, participates in resident and family education, and provides leadership to the nursing team. The RN works collaboratively with ancillary nursing and other care team members to maintain professional nursing standards and provide exceptional resident care.

  • Dementia care
  • IV administration and care
  • CPR/AED
  • Physical, mental, behavioral, and spiritual assessment
  • Respiratory care
  • Blood glucose testing
  • Pain management
  • G-tube and ostomy care
  • Neurological checks
  • Computer literacy and clinical documentation

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to move throughout the workday, including sitting, standing, and walking. The RN may be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies and must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. The position may involve exposure to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, medical and cleaning chemicals, infectious waste, and other conditions associated with a healthcare environment.
