Job summary

Tri-County Community Action Agency is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time position in Johnston, Rhode Island. The nurse will work under the Clinical Nurse Manager and Medical Director, providing clinical and technical support to primary care providers and triaging patient calls for care coordination.

The role includes medication administration under standing orders, maintaining logs, supporting family planning education, and ensuring safety with medications.

Responsibilities

• Participate in in-service, orientation, committee, supervision and staff meetings.
• Attend training/conferences as requested by Health Center Director or Medical Director (out-of-state travel possible).
• Support the mission by acting as a liaison between Health Center and wider health professional community.
• Maintain daily logs, monthly inventory and order birth control supplies, antibiotics and other medications and vaccines.
• Monitor the Health Center Emergency kit monthly and order supplies as needed (e.g. O2).
• Complete yearly Environment of Care review to ensure safety with sharps.
• Complete and submit annual enrollment form (SSV) to KIDSNET (Rhode Island Pediatric Vaccination Registry).
• Monitor Vaccine Information Sheets (VIS) for updates and inventory vaccines monthly and place orders with RI Department of Health.

General Responsibility:To perform basic duties related to overall patient services at the Tri-County Community Action Agency. The nurse works under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager, and Medical Director. The nurse provides clinical and technical support for the Primary Care Providers. He/She triages patient phone calls providing advice and health care information or coordination and prioritization of sick visits on an as needed basis, based on patients self-reports or needs. The nurse acts as a resource person for Medical Assistants/Receptionists providing support and guidance regarding patient’s medical/health care needs. The nurse is responsible for administering injections on an independent basis with established standing orders and in accordance with Tri-County policies and procedures. He/She must ensure the security of all medications by logging, tracking and disposing as necessary. He/She participates in Family Planning education. He/She maintains logs for quality assurance. The staff RN must be able to perform and assume whatever major role is required or assigned that day.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Supporting the mission of the Tri-County Community Action Agency and the Health Center in the community by acting as a liaison between the Health Center and wider health professional community.
• Maintaining daily logs, monthly inventory and ordering birth control supplies, antibiotics and other medications and vaccines.
