Job summary

Medical City Denton is seeking an OB Trauma RN to join our nursing team on the front line of perinatal care. The role focuses on recognizing emergent situations, coordinating with providers, and ensuring patient and family-centered care during the trauma and delivery process.

The ideal candidate has active Texas RN licensure, 2+ years in Labor and Delivery, and strong fetal monitoring skills, with certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP and ongoing education in fetal monitoring.

Qualifications

• 2+ years labor and delivery experience.
• Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's preferred.
• Texas RN license or compact license required.
• BLS and ACLS required; NRP certifications required.
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required.
• Advanced fetal monitoring course every 2 years; specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes.
• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor response.
• Prepare patients for procedures, including IV therapy, preoperative meds, and surgical site verification.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Trauma Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In partnership with medical providers, the RN recognizes and reacts to emergent situations and assists in surgical site verification. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

• Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification.

What qualifications you will need:

• 2+ years Labor and Delivery Experience
• Associates Degree in Nursing Required, Bachelors Degree in Nursing Preferred
• Texas State RN license or compact license required.
• BLS and ACLS required by AHA or ARC and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required
• Advanced Fetal monitoring course every 2 years; specialty certification preferred.
