Job summary

Akicita Federal is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) to deliver direct patient care and clinical support for Veterans at the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. Required: active RN license, graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN or higher), and ability to obtain VA suitability; prior VA or federal

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Veterans across assigned clinical areas, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient outcomes

• Monitor and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment in the electronic health record
• Coordinate with physicians and care team to ensure continuity and quality of patient care
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Respond to urgent and emergent patient situations and escalate care as needed
• Maintain compliance with VA policies, Joint Commission standards, and federal regulations governing patient care and safety

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Veterans across assigned clinical areas, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient outcomes

• Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic procedures in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols

• Monitor and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment accurately in the electronic health record

• Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and other members of the care team to ensure continuity and quality of patient care

• Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and health maintenance strategies

• Respond to urgent and emergent patient situations, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating care as needed

• Maintain compliance with VA policies, Joint Commission standards, and applicable federal regulations governing patient care and safety

$104,000 - $106,079 a year

• Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or higher)

• Ability to pass a federal background investigation and meet VA personnel suitability requirements prior to beginning work

• Ability to work on-site at the Dayton VA Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio

• Prior experience providing nursing care within a VA, Department of Defense, or other federal healthcare setting

• Familiarity with VA electronic health record systems (e.g., VistA, CPRS, or Oracle Health)

• Experience working with Veteran populations or an understanding of military culture and service-related health conditions

• Additional certifications relevant to specialty nursing areas (e.g., BLS, ACLS, specialty board certification)

• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-volume, interdisciplinary clinical environment
