Job summary

Akicita Federal is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) to deliver direct patient care and clinical support for the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. You will work with Veterans and an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality care in a respected VA facility.

You will administer medications, monitor patients, educate families, and ensure safety and compliance with VA policies and federal regulations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the United States.
• Experience in VA or federal healthcare settings preferred.
• Familiarity with VA EHR systems (VistA/CPRS/Oracle Health).
• Ability to work in high-volume, interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across clinical areas, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures per physician orders and established protocols.
• Monitor vital signs and document patient conditions in the electronic health record.
• Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and other care team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Educate Veterans and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and health maintenance strategies.
• Respond to urgent and emergent patient situations, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating care as needed.
• Maintain compliance with VA policies, Joint Commission standards, and applicable federal regulations governing patient care and safety.

• - Additional certifications relevant to specialty nursing areas (e.g., BLS, ACLS, specialty board certification)
