Job summary

Rochester Regional Health's Unity Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Electrophysiology Lab team. In this fast-paced setting, you will assist with complex cardiac procedures such as ablations and pacemaker/ICD implantations, while monitoring patient rhythms and maintaining sterile fields.

The ideal candidate holds an NYS RN license, BLS, and EP lab experience, with a Diploma or ASN in Nursing; Bachelor's preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
• Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least 6 months experience in an EP lab.

Responsibilities

• Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care.
• Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient.
• Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team.
• Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs.
• Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.
• Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.
• Completes at least one CRU form for submission to Nursing Research Department and completes a minimum of 5 CNE/CEU hours per year.
• Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in a timely manner.
• Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

SUMMARY:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you’re the engine and the heart of patient care at Rochester Regional Health. EP Lab

On our Electrophysiology (EP) Lab team, you will assist with complex cardiac procedures, including ablations, pacemaker and ICD implantations, and other electrophysiology interventions. The EP lab is a fast-paced, highly technical setting in cardiac care.

You will monitor patients’ cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic status throughout procedures, and prepare and maintain sterile fields, ensuring compliance with infection control. RNs will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care

Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).

Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.

Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goals.

Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.

Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.

Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States.

Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.

Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner.

Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing

Registered Nurse license in New York State.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

At least 6 months experience in an EP lab.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
