Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center in Tarrytown, NY, seeks a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to prepare, calibrate and administer radiopharmaceuticals under direction, perform quality control, and operate imaging and related instrumentation. Qualified candidates may perform CT functions with SPECT/CT exams.

Required are an Associate's degree, a JRCERT-approved Nuclear Medicine program, and CNMT/ARRT certification with NYS Radiological Technologist license. Travel to other sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Nuclear Medicine Technology program approved by JRCERT.
• Meets ACR requirements to perform Nuclear Medicine exams.
• CNMT/ARRT certification and NYS Radiological Technologist license required.
• Knowledge of Quality Control and patient scheduling.
• Familiarity with Nuclear Medicine gamma cameras and SPECT/CT equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, calibrate and administer radiopharmaceuticals under supervision.
• Perform quality control procedures on equipment.
• Operate imaging, laboratory, and computer instrumentation.
• Possibly perform CT functions in SPECT/CT exams.
• Coordinate patient scheduling and travel to other sites when needed.

The Responsibilities of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist include an empathetic and instructional approach to patient care, the preparation, calibration and administration of radiopharmaceuticals and pharmaceuticals (under the direction of an authorized user) , the performance of quality control procedures and the operation of imaging, laboratory, and computer instrumentation. Qualified technologists can perform CT functions in conjunction with SPECT/CT exams.

Please note : In the event of vacation or emergency will be required to travel to other nuclear cardiology sites including but not limited to - 1578 Williamsbridge Rd and 20 Cedar St

Education/Skills required:

• Associate's degree required
• Education from formal education program(s) for Nuclear Medicine Technology, and as applicable CT, by the Joint Review Committee of Educational Programs to qualify as Nuclear Medicine Tech.
• Meets American College of Radiology requirements/standards to perform Nuclear Medicine exams.
• Current CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) and/or ARRT certification and/or New York State Department of Health License as a Radiological Technologist. New York State Department of Health License Radiological Technologist with at least a limited practice of Nuclear Medicine and can include CT practice to perform SPECT/CT exams.
• Knowledge of the following Quality Control : Requires the evaluation and maintenance of quality control program for instrumentation to ensure its credibility and reliability.
• Administrative Procedures : Requires the exercise of judgment to schedule patients in a timely arranged manner. Uses judgment to assign work schedules to technologists.
• Nuclear Medicine gamma cameras with and without SPECT/CT; data processing computers; doses calibrators; well counters; EKG machine, thyroid probe; survey meters; film processor; film copiers; lung ventilation equipment; Hospital computer systems applicable to job functions.
• Patient Care : Requires the exercise of judgment to assess and responds to patient's needs prior to, during and after visits in the Nuclear Medicine Division. Determine which patients should receive immediate care in the absence of the supervisor.
