Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Monitor Technician to set up and monitor EEG tests for patients in the Epilepsy Unit. You will gain hands-on experience with advanced technology, while supporting patients through testing and treatment.

This role involves long-term EEG monitoring for both adults and children, assist physicians with interpretation, and maintain patient logs. Night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am average 40 hours per week, with opportunities for

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Electroneurodiagnostics or related patient care field.
  • Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T).
  • BLS Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • One year of recent experience in epilepsy long‑term monitoring.
  • Knowledge of EEG testing and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

As Monitor Technician, you will set up, perform and monitor EEG tests for patients within the Epilepsy Unit. A caregiver in this position variable hours averaging 40 hours per week working nights between 7:00pm and 7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Monitor electrophysiological data on patients in special recording rooms and at other locations using closed circuit audio/visual equipment, electrophysiological recording instruments, surface recording electrodes and electrophysiological recording instruments.
  • Perform long‑term monitoring of adult and pediatric patients using closed circuit and digital audio/visual equipment and electro physiological recording instruments while interacting with patients.
  • Perform all functions of a Registered EEG Technologist, including assisting physicians in the reading and interpretation of EEG and clinical seizures.
  • Perform record keeping duties using the computer, maintain daily logs of patient status and report information to co‑workers.
  • Compile and forward billing information to the work leader or supervisor.
  • Set‑up for recording and stimulation of monitoring electrodes and care for patients with invasive electrodes and assists with head dressing changes for invasive monitored patients.
  • Assist with "Spect Scans” and physicians in research studies, protocols and documentation.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Associate’s Degree in Electroneurodiagnostics or a related patient care field
  • Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of recent experience in epilepsy long‑term monitoring
  • Knowledge of all areas of general EEG testing and instrumentation
  • Demonstrated competency of long‑term epilepsy monitoring techniques and interventions
Physical Requirements:
  • Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment.
  • Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 320 pounds.
  • Requires normal or corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease and body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $25.13

Maximum hourly: $38.33
