We aim to improve the health of underserved populations across the 72 counties of South Texas, as part of the Southwest Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church. Our mission is to provide innovative, effective, and long-term physical, mental, and spiritual resources to promote healing, wellness, and wholeness of body, mind, and spirit.

Job Responsibilities

1. Coordinate health education and services with physicians, staff, and other healthcare providers.
2. Provide group or individual patient education to manage chronic health conditions.
3. Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating diabetes self-management education programs.
4. Notify supervisors or physicians of patient reactions to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
5. Assess and educate patients based on their individual needs, including patient and family instruction.
6. Prepare and distribute educational and informational materials.
7. Develop programs to enhance health education services.
8. Market health education services and/or clinic.
9. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
10. Maintain educational resources.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (Bilingual in Spanish preferred)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition, or related field.
• Completion of a dietetic internship or coordinated program of at least 900 hours supervised by a Registered Dietitian.
• Experience in chronic disease management preferred.
• Fluency in English required; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Licensed and registered or eligible in Texas; Certified Diabetes Educator preferred or to be certified within two years of employment.
• Proficient in Internet, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and electronic health records.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work primarily in a medical office setting with direct patient contact. Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, walk, climb, sit, stand, and lift at least 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
