Job summary

MediLodge of Cheboygan is seeking a Registered Dietitian to assess and plan nutritional care for residents, collaborating with the Food Service Director to ensure high-quality nutrition aligned with standards. The role emphasizes resident-centered care and measurable outcomes.

The RD will document care, participate in the care team, and help tailor diet plans to individual needs while supporting menu planning and food safety practices within a skilled nursing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field.
• Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• License or certification as mandated by the state.
• ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred.
• Experience in long-term care environment and geriatric nutrition preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains clinical nutrition documentation per policy and procedure, and state/federal regulations.
• Ensures assessments and progress notes are accurate and descriptive of services and resident response.
• Completes documentation within required timeframes.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Involves residents and families in planning objectives and goals.
• Coordinates menu reviews with the Food Service Director to meet resident preferences.
• Monitors menu variety, food quality, and nourishment distribution.
• Assists with diet orders and tray card accuracy for each resident.
• Visits new residents to obtain Diet History and preferences.
• Inspects food service areas and practices for compliance.
• Participates in long-term care survey processes.
• Assists with purchasing decisions and staff training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
