Job summary

Qualifications

• Active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics preferred.
• One year acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

DIETICIAN - FLEXSTAFF

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Interviews patient and/or family for nutritional history.
• 2. Obtains patient food preferences.
• 3. Assesses patients and documents in patients’ medical record, according to hospital policies and procedures.
• 4. Recommends nutrition care plans to medical staff for review and consideration.
• 5. Recommends therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians for patients.
• 6. Ensures accuracy of diet order received by checking against physician’s order.
• 7. Calculates nutrient content of tube feeding, TPN/PPN, and dietary intakes (calorie counts) as ordered by physicians.
• 8. Provides nutritional guidance and counseling to patients and their families. Provides written material as needed and according to prescribed diet.
• 9. Assists Chief Clinical Dietitian with changes to patient’s menu, including patient food preferences, and development of standardized recipes.
• 10. Assists in overseeing food service workers in proper food handing and portion control.
• 11. Reports any malfunctioning of equipment which may interfere with a safe and smooth operation.
• 12. Participates in performance improvement initiatives including data collection and reporting on results.
• 13. Performs related duties, as required.

ADA Essential Functions

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food, Nutrition or Dietetics, required.
• Registered Dietitian (RD) within three (3) months of date of hire, required.
• Active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, preferred.

One year acute care experience preferred
