Job summary

Pullman Regional Hospital is seeking a Dietitian to assess, plan, and implement nutritional care for both inpatients and outpatients. You will apply evidence-based nutrition care, document via EMR using the ADIME process, and educate patients and families on nutrition therapy and learning styles.

The role requires RD credentials (CDR) and WA DOH certification within specified timelines, with state food handler permissions and ongoing continuing education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or Dietetics OR Master’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics with required coursework from ACEND-approved program
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the CDR
• WA DOH certification within 60 days of hire
• WA Food Handlers permit within 30 days of hire
• Maintain continuing education requirements for CDR and WA DOH

Responsibilities

• Assess, recommend, and implement nutritional care for inpatients and outpatients
• Apply Nutrition Care Process (ADIME) in EMR documentation
• Perform Nutrition Focused Physical Exam and translate findings into care plans
• Educate patients and families on nutrition therapy and learning styles
• Identify food-drug interactions and collaborate with pharmacy and nursing
• Collaborate with other providers in interdisciplinary teams for nutritional care

We prioritize lasting change through developing goals with clients for long-term results.Company Statement:Pullman Regional is an innovative, patient-focused, multi-disciplinary based work environment where all members of the team contribute to the exceptional care of our patients and the community.Position Overview:Assesses, Recommends, and Implements strategies for nutritional care for outpatients and inpatients.A Day in the Life:Applies knowledge and current research information to deliver optimal nutrition care, including age-appropriate standards, utilizing validated assessment tools and evidence-based interventions, where available.Uses the Nutrition Care Process (ADIME) approach to patient care and in EMR documentation.Competent in the Nutrition Focused Physical Exam for adult patients and the application of findings to overall nutrition assessment and diagnosis.Provides patient and family education related to nutritional therapy and incorporates best method of learning style and communication into sessions.Identifies food and drug interactions and provides patient education in collaboration with pharmacy and nursing.Applies state and national regulatory standards of nutritional care in the daily delivery of services.Screens inpatients for nutritional risk and collaborates with Dietetic Technician for patient assessment/education/interventions.Recommends and implements strategies for nutritional care in collaboration with other healthcare providers and participates in interdisciplinary teams, as appropriate.Promotes positive staff interpersonal relationships.About You!This Job is For You if You Have:Bachelor’s degree (graduation before 2024) or Master’s degree (graduation 2024 forward) with required dietetic coursework from a program approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) OR equivalent if completed outside the United States.Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).Certified Dietitian with the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) within 60 days of hire.Washington State Food Handlers permit within 30 days of hire.Must maintain continued professional education requirements for the maintenance of registration status with the CDR and certification status with the Washington DOH.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to communicate and collaborate well with staff, colleagues, and patients/clients.Ability to learn and utilize new information, research, and technology.Ability to manage time, tasks, and resources appropriately.Consistently demonstrates behavior congruent with Pullman Regional Hospital’s Vision, Mission, and Values.Consistently follows Pullman Regional Hospital’s code of conduct.A Wow if You Have:Master’s degree in Human Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, Dietetics or equivalent if completed outside the United States.Two years of clinical experience (inpatient or outpatient).One year of outpatient experience.Licensed Dietitian with the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses.Company Perks:Our employees are our most important asset and that’s reflected in our benefits.
