Job summary

MemorialCare is seeking a Registered Dietitian to deliver medical nutrition therapy and counseling for patients with diabetes, weight management, and other chronic conditions in Fountain Valley.

The RD will conduct assessments, provide education to patients and families, and develop individualized treatment plans as part of an interdisciplinary team. Strong communication, responsibility, and time-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years as outpatient dietitian or in nutrition counseling.
• Certified Diabetic Educator or Certification in Obesity and Weight Management preferred.
• Experience in the community and/or Primary Care setting preferred.
• Spanish speaking a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Position Summary

The Registered Dietitian (RD) is a specialist in nutrition who utilizes Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and evidence-based information to promote realistic lifestyle changes that can help patients manage their diabetes, weight and other chronic conditions. The registered dietitian provides expert nutrition guidance and support to promote healthy eating habits and improve overall health. Upon referral from a physician, the registered dietitian conducts nutrition assessments, provides nutritional counseling and education to patients, caregivers, and family members and develops treatment plans.

• Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications/Work Experience

• A minimum of two (2) years working as an outpatient dietitian or in nutrition counseling is preferred.
• Certified Diabetic Educator or Certification in Obesity and Weight Management preferred.

Education/Licensure/Certification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition from an accredited college or university required. Master’s Degree in Nutrition or allied health profession preferred.
• Meet the requirements for a Registered Dietitian as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Current, active Registered Dietitian certification (also known as Registered Dietitian Nutritionist)confirmed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required
• CPR or BLS certification
