Job summary

Lane Regional Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Dietitian to plan and direct nutritional care for acute care, rehabilitation, and outpatient clients. You will develop and implement care plans based on assessments, counseling individuals and families on diet and lifestyle, and document recommendations through EMR.

You will also create educational materials, provide community nutrition education, and collaborate with the health care team while reviewing and adjusting diet menus as prescribed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Prefer at least two years related experience as a therapeutic dietitian with counseling/education experience.
  • Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist in Louisiana.
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Clinical Dietitian Plans, directs and provides nutritional care to acute care and rehabilitation patients as well as on an outpatient basis.

Develops and implements a plan of care based on an assessment of nutritional needs and correlation with other integrated members of the Health Care Team for hosptial patients and rehabilation center patients.

Counsels individual and families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selections and adapts plans to the individual's life style for inpatients and outpatients.

  • Evaluates nutritional care and provides follow-up for continuity of care for hospital and rehabilitation patients.
  • Communicates appropriate recommendations for diet history and nutritional care data through electronic medical records.
  • Assists in planning regular and therapeutic diet menus as prescribed by the attending physician.
  • Review therapeutic and regular diet plans and menus to assure that plans are in compliance with physicians' orders.
  • Compiles and develops educational materials for nutrition education.
  • Provides nutritional education to FNS and hospital staff as needed.
  • Develops and conducts community nutrition education as needed.
  • Maintains effective written and verbal communication with public relations, inter and intra departmentally.
  • Is available as an educational resource to the health care team, patients and families. Participates in research activities. Evaluated and recommends new products

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree or advanced degree in Nutritional and Dietetics.
  • Prefer at least two years related experience as a therapeutic dietitian with counseling/education experience.
  • Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist in the State of Louisiana
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
Preferred
  • Bachelors or better in Dietetics.
  • Bachelors or better in Nutrition Science.
