Registered Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The primary role of the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is to assist the dentist in gaining the patient’s commitment to the best possible treatment, with urgency. Key duties include:

• Utilizing x-ray time to promote the qualities of the dentist and educate patients with intra-oral pictures.
• Using effective chair-side skills and supporting the dentist’s diagnosis.
• Abiding by procedures for compliance with safety regulations, infection control, and permitted duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist to gain the patient’s commitment for treatment with urgency.
• Participate in providing a positive patient experience, focusing on treatment and patient concerns.
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and welcoming environment; prepare patients and assist the doctors.
• Complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures as directed by the dentist.
• Instruct patients on postoperative and oral health care.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment per ADA guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, ADA, etc.).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; required training courses for certification or licensure as mandated by state.
• Certifications/licenses as required by state (e.g., radiograph, coronal polish, ultrasonic scaling).
• Associate degree or certificate from an accredited institution preferred.

Compensation: $23.50 - $32.75/hour
