Registered Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The primary role of the RDA is to assist the dentist in gaining the patient’s commitment to the best possible treatment, with urgency. Key duties include:

• Utilizing x-ray time to promote the qualities of the dentist
• Learning the patient’s expectations and educating them with intra-oral pictures
• Using effective chair-side skills and supporting the dentist’s diagnosis
• Abiding by procedures for safety, infection control, and permitted duties

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist to gain patient commitment for treatment
• Participate in the Perfect Patient ExperienceÔ by focusing on patient needs and concerns
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and welcoming environment; prepare patients and assist the doctors
• Complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures as directed
• Instruct patients on postoperative and oral health care
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment per ADA guidelines
• Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; required training courses for certification or licensure
• Certifications/licenses as mandated by state (e.g., radiograph, coronal polish)
• Associate degree or one-year certificate preferred; equivalent experience considered

Compensation: $20.00-$27.00 per hour
