Job summary

Gouverneur Hospital, part of Rochester Regional Health, is seeking a per diem Radiologic Technologist for the Medical Imaging department. You will perform diagnostic CT and X-ray exams, screen CTs, and interventional CT procedures per approved techniques and standards.

You will coordinate CT studies, document for radiologist interpretation and billing, and communicate with radiologists, staff, providers, and patients to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• BLS within 3 months of hire.
• New York State Department of Health Licensure.
• Registered with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), ARRT Registry in CT.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily coordination for CT studies, ensures patient and provider needs are met, and maintains communication between all parties.
• Performs CT procedures utilizing anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques to minimize radiation dose to the patient.
• Under radiologist guidance, implements new or updated protocols and communicates them to internal and external care areas and providers.
• Follows organizational standards for patient identification, education, consents, order verification, and infection control; practices radiation protection to minimize exposure; verifies pregnancy status when appropriate.
• Responsible for QA/QC procedures involving CT equipment, image quality, documentation, and radiation dose reporting and control.
• Performs general radiographic procedures with attention to anatomy, positioning, and dose minimization.

SUMMARY

Performs diagnostic CT and X-ray exams, screening CT exams, and interventional CT procedures in accordance with approved techniques and standards as established by Radiologists, governing and accrediting bodies. Completes the necessary documentation for each exam to ensure the radiologist can provide quality diagnostic interpretation and MH can bill accordingly. Communicates with radiologists and department Leadership on a routine basis to ensure a high level of care and service for patients and to meet provider needs. Operates CT scanner, general diagnostic radiographic equipment, and ancillary support systems to perform CT and diagnostic radiographic procedures per provider orders. This aligns with the approved techniques, policies, and regulatory standards established by regulatory agencies and the organization's standards and policies. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides daily coordination for all CT studies, ensures that patient and provider needs are met, and maintains communication between all parties, including staff, radiologists, providers, and patients.
• Performs CT procedures utilizing the principles and knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques, including collimation, shielding, and exposure factors, to minimize radiation dose to the patient
• Under the direction and guidance of the radiologist, facilitates implementation and communication of new or updated protocols to internal and external care areas and providers.
• Follows organizational standards, including but not limited to patient identification, patient education, consents, order verification, and infection control. Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient, family, and staff, and verifies pregnancy status if appropriate per department and regulatory standards.
• Responsible for QA/QC procedures as designated and maintains standards of these programs. This includes processes involving CT equipment, image quality, documentation, and radiation dose reporting and control.
• Performs general radiographic procedures utilizing the principles and knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques, including collimation, shielding, and exposure factors, to minimize radiation dose to the patient

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• BLS within 3 months of hire.
• New York State Department of Health Licensure
• Registered with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), ARRT Registry in CT

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• One year of work experience in a hospital setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20-50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE:

$35.86 - $53.21 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
