Job summary

Rochester Regional Health in Potsdam, NY is seeking a Cat Scan Tech for part-time evenings (1pm-11pm) with on-call and weekend requirements. You will operate CT scanners and related imaging equipment, perform diagnostic CT exams and assist with protocol updates under radiologist supervision.

Required qualifications include graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program, NYS licensure, ARRT certification (ARRT-R), and BLS within 3 months of hire; preferred CT experience and ARRT CT

Responsibilities

• Provides daily coordination for all CT studies and maintains communication among staff, radiologists, providers, and patients.
• Performs CT procedures using anatomy knowledge, positioning, collimation, shielding, and exposure factors to minimize radiation dose.
• Follows updated protocols and communicates changes to internal and external care areas.
• Adheres to patient identification, education, consents, order verification and infection control standards.
• Maintains QA/QC procedures for CT equipment, image quality, dose reporting and control.
• Performs general radiographic procedures with attention to minimizing patient dose.

Job Title: Cat Scan Tech

Status: Part Time

Department: Imaging Services

Location: Canton Potsdamn Hospital - 50 Leroy Street Potsdam, NY 13676

Schedule: Evenings, M-F, 10hrs, 1pm-11pm, on call and weekend requirement

SUMMARY

Performs diagnostic CT exams, Screening CT exams and interventional CT procedures in accordance with approved techniques and standards as established by Radiologists, governing and accrediting bodies. Completes the necessary documentation for each exam to ensure Radiologist can provide quality diagnostic interpretation and CPH can bill accordingly . Communicates with Radiologist and department Leadership on a routine basis to insure a high level of care and service for patients and to meet provider needs. Operates CT scanner, general diagnostic radiographic equipment and ancillary support systems to perform CT and diagnostic radiographic procedures per provider orders. This is in accordance with approved techniques, policies and regulatory standards as established by regulatory agencies, standards and policies set forth by the organization. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and the Mammography Quality Standards Act.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides daily coordination for all CT studies, insures that patient and provider needs are met and communication is maintained between all parties to include staff, radiologists, providers, and patients.

Performs CT procedures utilizing the principles and knowledge of anatomy, positioning and radiographic techniques to include collimation, shielding, and exposure factors to minimize radiation dose to the patient.

Under the direction and guidance of the radiologist facilitates implementation and communication of new or updated protocols to internal and external care areas and providers.

Follows organizational standards to include but not limited to patient identification, patient education, consents, and order verification and infection control. Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient, family, and staff and verifies pregnancy status if appropriate per department and regulatory standards.

Responsible for QA/QC procedures as designated and maintains standards of these programs. This includes processes involving CT equipment, image quality, documentation and radiation dose reporting and control.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology program

New York State Department of Health Licensure

American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT-R)

BLS within 3 months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced modality specialty training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20-50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

PAY RANGE

$36.58 - $54.27 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
