Qualifications
Education
Required: Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.) Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year. Keep current of new findings/research.
Experience
Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire). Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Required: Must be able to use decision making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care. Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices. The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for the patients, visitors and staff. Knowledge base for use of different formula's when assessing patient's nutritional needs.
