Job Summary

• Provides initial nutrition assessment of patient condition.
• Provides ongoing reassessment and follow-up care.
• Provides nutrition education services for patients and staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

Required: Completion of a program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics leading to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Must have basic knowledge in subspecialty areas such as nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc. Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits annually and stay current with new research findings.

Experience

Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care setting.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health Department within 1 week of hire. Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care.

Other Skills

Must be able to make quick and rational decisions regarding patient care, recognize unsafe work conditions, safely handle chemicals and equipment, and understand nutritional formulas for patient assessment.
