Job summary

Blue Springs School District is seeking a Registered Behavior Technician to provide intensive behavior support to students across Blue Springs, Missouri, collaborating with BCBAs and staff to implement Behavior Intervention Plans.

The position is full‑time (179 days, 7.5 hours per day) with benefits; certification as an RBT is required, and candidates should have experience supporting students with behavioral needs and be able to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal training in theories of Applied Behavioral Analysis or Behavioral Support Interventions and successful completion of the Registered Behavior Technician training course and examination for certification.
  • Preferably a minimum of two years of experience working with students who require behavior support.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply the basic principles of ABA in classroom settings as directed.
  • Assess student needs and provide interventions to redirect behavior.
  • Collect and submit data needed for Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans to affect behavior changes.
  • Regularly review and remain well‑versed in multiple BIPs to implement and monitor plans for multiple students simultaneously.
  • Provide verbal and written reports to the BCBA, including data analysis and recommendations for modifications or revisions to BIPs.
  • Model implementation of BIPs for paraprofessionals and staff.
  • When required, provide physical intervention for students demonstrating unsafe behaviors.
  • Perform and document district‑approved restraint and seclusion methods, and participate in yearly crisis intervention training provided by the district.
  • Participate as a member of the school crisis team.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Maintain consistency of BIPs by communicating and providing input to teachers and other support staff.
  • Work with multiple students across a wide variety of age ranges, as assigned by the administration, case manager, and/or BCBA, and work at multiple sites during the school year.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, use stairs, get up and down from the floor, all with ease.
  • Job is physically demanding at times.

Registered Behavioral Technician

Blue Springs Multiple Locations – Blue Springs, Missouri

Position Summary: The Registered Behavior Technician will provide intensive behavior support services to students in-district. The RBT will work collaboratively with BCBAs, teachers, and other support staff to implement behavior support plans for students that require consistent and significant behavioral support during the school day. The Registered Behavior Technician will meet all the requirements of RBT certification. This is not an instructional support position, although the RBT may provide some instructional support to students as needed. The position is full‑time (179 days, 7.5 hours per day) and benefits eligible. Salary range is $28,448–$38,114, commensurate with education and experience.

Essential Functions

Education and/or Required Experience

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferably a minimum of two years of experience working with students who require behavior support.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

Registered Behavior Technician certification, as evidenced by completion of the RBT training course and examination, as well as participation in district-provided crisis intervention training.
