Job description

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) plays a critical role in delivering applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to individuals with developmental disabilities, primarily focusing on children with autism spectrum disorder. This position involves implementing behavior intervention plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to improve clients' social, communication, and learning skills. The RBT works directly with clients in various settings, including homes, schools, and clinics, ensuring consistent and effective therapy sessions. Success in this role requires strong observational skills, patience, and the ability to adapt interventions to meet individual client needs. Ultimately, the RBT contributes to meaningful improvements in clients' quality of life by supporting their developmental progress through evidence-based behavioral techniques.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of the RBT 40-hour training course as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Ability to pass required background checks and meet applicable state-specific licensing or regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, caregivers, supervisors, and other professionals.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between client locations, including homes, schools, and clinics, as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Previous experience in an ABA therapy setting or related healthcare environment.
  • Additional education, certifications, or training in behavior analysis, special education, psychology, education, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with data collection software and electronic health records.
  • Bilingual abilities to support diverse client populations.
  • RBT Certification.
Responsibilities
  • Implement individualized ABA therapy programs under the supervision of a BCBA.
  • Collect and record accurate data on client behaviors and progress during therapy sessions.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients during all interactions.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure consistency in treatment approaches.
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision to maintain certification and improve clinical skills.
  • Follow all applicable treatment plans, company policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and timely session documentation.
  • Communicate relevant client progress, concerns, and observations to the supervising BCBA.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and conduct while working with clients, families, schools, and other community partners.
Skills

The RBT utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to engage clients effectively and collaborate with supervisors and families. Attention to detail is essential for accurately collecting and documenting behavioral data, which informs treatment decisions. Problem-solving skills help the RBT adapt interventions in real time to meet client needs and respond to challenging behaviors. Time management and organizational skills ensure that therapy sessions are conducted efficiently and that all documentation is completed promptly. Additionally, empathy and patience are critical for building trust and rapport with clients, fostering a positive therapeutic environment.
