Job summary

TrulyHired in partnership with Hamilton County Educational Service Center seeks a Registered Behavior Technician for the 2026-2027 school year in Hamilton County, Ohio. This full-time position supports students, teachers and therapists by implementing behavior plans and supervising activities.

You will work on-site with educators, utilize de‑escalation techniques, monitor progress and participate in trainings to promote a safe, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma (or national equivalent) or higher.
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education Credential (or willing to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with students according to their behavior plans and IEP/504 accommodations.
  • Observes and intervenes to redirect inappropriate student behavior.
  • Assists teachers with de‑escalation techniques and calming environments as needed.
  • Provides guided practice and instructional activities to students as directed.
  • Assists and guides students to complete tasks and develop life skills.
  • Supports data collection, student work corrections, and instructional accommodations.
  • Promotes a safe learning environment and follows crisis/emergency procedures.
  • Participates in required annual training and competency development.

Education

Registered Behavior Technician – Full Time – Hamilton County Educational Service Center – 2026-2027 school year.

Job Goal

To aid children, teachers and/or other interdisciplinary team members in providing an appropriate and safe learning environment to enrolled students.

Qualifications

At least 18 years of age, High School Diploma (or national equivalent) or higher, and a valid Ohio Department of Education Credential (or be willing to obtain).

Essential Functions
  • Interacts with students according to their Individual Behavior Intervention Plan, Individual Educational Program or Section 504 Accommodation Plan
  • Observes and intervenes to redirect inappropriate student behavior
  • Provides assistance to teachers when approved de‑escalation techniques are utilized and when a student needs a calming environment
  • Provides guided practice and other instructionally relevant activities to students as directed
  • Assists, monitors, and guides the student to complete tasks
  • Assists individual students as needed with adaptive, functional and life skills
  • Assists instructional staff with data collection, student work corrections, instructional accommodations, and modifications
  • Assists the student in using age‑appropriate self‑management skills as related to the children's educational needs
  • Implements approved de‑escalation and crisis/emergency procedures according to protocol
  • Promotes a safe learning environment
  • Monitors student behavior prior to the beginning of the official start of the school day, during student periods, between classes, free time, bus drop‑off/pick‑up and other times as assigned
  • Responsible to participate in the annual training offered by the educational service center
  • Attends and demonstrates competency in behavior technician training as developed by Hamilton County ESC
  • Ability to restrain a student (in accordance with protocol) with the help of others if a student's behavior escalates to a potentially dangerous level
  • Assumes other responsibilities and duties as assigned
