Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking a Vice President, Development for the Northern New England market (Southern Maine/Portland). This role leads the development team, manages the Maine Go Red for Women portfolio, and drives revenue with volunteers and staff nationwide.

You will report to the Executive Director, work from a home-office, and engage externally within the Northern New England market while mentoring staff to meet fundraising goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least three years of relevant experience in development/fundraising in a nonprofit.
• Experience leading and cultivating high-level leaders (C-suite preferred).
• Experience securing corporate donations and major donors.
• Willingness to work outside standard hours for events and travel.
• Ability to travel daily across the market (Maine, Central Massachusetts, New Hampshire).

Responsibilities

• Achieve the $2 million revenue goal for the Northern New England market.
• Lead development campaigns and staff to reach revenue targets.
• Recruit and develop volunteer leaders; secure corporate sponsors.
• Support Board priorities and collaborate with executives on fundraising strategy.
• Grow market revenue through best practices and donor cultivation.
• Model leadership values and align with mission-driven goals.
• Engage event donors through Major Gifts and partnerships.
• Build relationships with corporate leaders and volunteers.
• Communicate outcomes with clear, concise reports and presentations.
