Job summary

Xcel Energy in Colorado is seeking a Senior Regional Transmission Planner to guide the strategic direction of Regional Transmission Planning initiatives and policy development. You will lead coordination across Transmission Operations, Energy Markets, and regulatory teams to align with corporate goals and ensure reliable system implementation.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in engineering, business, economics, or related discipline or combination of education and experience.
• 10 years progressive operations and regulatory experience in the electric energy industry, including 4 years with Regional Transmission or Reliability Organizations.
• Strong business acumen and sense of urgency.
• Proactive and able to work with utility executives, regulatory agencies, and fast-changing environments.
• Ability to identify opportunities with Regional Transmission Planning.
• Knowledge of market aspects of Regional Transmission Planning and tariff administration.
• Advanced organizational, communications, leadership and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Willingness to travel overnight regularly.

Responsibilities

• Identify impacts of Regional Transmission Planning initiatives on transmission and corporate positions; develop strategy.
• Prepare and review reports, comments, and briefing materials on transmission policy matters.
• Work with management to develop regulatory activities at state and federal level; advocate positions.
• Serve as project manager for initiatives from Regional Transmission Planning policy changes; ensure cost recovery.
• Communicate with senior management, regulators, and stakeholders to advance policies and goals.
