Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks a senior leader to guide a region’s Transmission & Distribution group. You will lead engineers and designers, drive staffing, career development, and QA/QC while aligning with global objectives. Travel and multi-office coordination are expected in the role.

You will partner with Marketing and Business Development to pursue new opportunities, ensure delivery excellence, and promote safety, innovation, and diversity across the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of consulting in transmission and distribution with a focus on engineering design or project management.
• Proven leadership or supervisory experience in engineering or technical environments.
• Experience in team mentoring and performance development.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
• Record of financial success in project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of engineers and designers.
• Collaborate with HR and Recruiting to attract top talent and oversee onboarding for all staff.
• Guide employees in identifying and pursuing career paths within the T&D organization.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and create development plans.
• Identify training needs and implement targeted training programs with T&D leadership.
• Champion a positive culture rooted in safety, ownership, innovation, and teamwork.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor on transmission projects regionally and for international teams.
• Monitor team performance on project execution and take corrective actions to meet quality, schedule, and budget targets.
• Drive adoption of innovative tools, technologies, and workflows to enhance engineering efficiency.
• Support proposal development and QA/QC efforts for key projects.
• Collaborate with regional and Burns & McDonnell India leadership to align staffing and technical direction.
• Contribute to formulation and execution of the region’s strategic business plan.
• Partner with Marketing, Account Management, and Business Development to pursue new business and develop proposals.
• Participate in trade shows and thought leadership to promote capabilities.
• Promote diversity, innovation, and process improvement across the department.
• Coordinate with regional and national leaders to share best practices and support global objectives.
• Facilitate alignment across T&D offices on standards, tools, and initiatives.
• Support integration of global engineering resources and ensure consistent delivery.
• Assist in resource coordination and work assignment to optimize staffing.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management System and support QA/QC processes.
• Lead continuous improvement to increase efficiency and consistency in delivery.
• Provide input into selection and implementation of project management systems.
• Support development of market offerings including EPC and program management solutions.
