Placements24 is assisting a provincial sports council in the Northern Cape to recruit a Regional Sports Development Officer for the Upington region. The role focuses on promoting sports participation, implementing development plans, and collaborating with schools, clubs, local authorities, and communities.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in sports development or project coordination, strong management skills, and the ability to secure funding.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in sports development, project management, or community sport coordination.
• Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans for sports development.
• Strong understanding of grassroots sports structures and challenges in the region.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with presentation capabilities.
• Experience in budget management and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement regional sports development plans aligned with provincial goals.
• Coordinate and deliver sports programs and events for various age groups.
• Build relationships with local authorities, schools, clubs, and community leaders.
• Identify and nurture sporting talent through programs and pathways.
• Assist clubs in capacity building, governance, and resource mobilization.
• Monitor and evaluate programs, reporting on outcomes and impact.
• Manage the budget for regional activities efficiently and transparently.
• Promote participation and healthy lifestyles through outreach activities.
• Seek and secure funding through grants and sponsorships.
