Job summary

The Regional SPD Educator at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, WA leads training for Sterile Processing staff to uphold regulatory standards and ensure staff competency across all processes.

You will collaborate with SPD leadership and The Center for Clinical Practice and Professional Development to design, develop, and implement educational performance-improvement strategies based on data driven gaps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of Sterile Processing required; 2 years of experience mentoring and providing education or training in a professional setting preferred
• Certifications: CRCST (HSPA) or CSPDT (CBSPD) required
• Additional certifications (CER or CFER) required within 1 year after hiring

Responsibilities

• Ensure SOPs, Standard Works and Competencies are up to date with current best practices, regulatory standards, and manufacture’s IFU, if applicable.
• Ensure risk analyses are completed and approved, or manufacture’s clarification is on file for all processes where best practices, regulatory standards, and manufacture’s IFU are vague or non-existent.
• Build, evaluate and update onboarding training, CEU training opportunities, new product training, quality improvement in-service training and annual competencies in partnership with system education departments.
• Facilitate new hire department orientation and provide on-the-job training as directed by the Regional Senior SPD Educator & SPD leadership.
• Maintain and evaluate the Operating Manuals for all equipment as well as the proof of super User Training.
• Maintain up-to-date training records and ensure all employee certifications and competency levels are accurately documented.
• Other duties as assigned.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $77,480.00 - $111,467.20 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
