Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Field Support Specialist to provide advanced corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair across multiple solar facilities. This role serves as a regional technical resource and requires extensive travel throughout California.

The position is full-time on a jobsite and involves travel about 75 percent. Applicants should have strong electrical/mechanical skills, OSHA 10 and NFPA 70E certifications, and experience with CMMS and SCADA systems.

Qualifications

Associates Degree or Certificate in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or Mechanics preferred.
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
Minimum three years of experience in utility-scale solar and/or a related electrical power industry.
Strong corrective maintenance and troubleshooting background required.
Demonstrated understanding of safe electrical and mechanical practices.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of electrical testing and troubleshooting equipment.
Strong working knowledge of utility-scale solar systems, protection devices, control systems, power supplies, loads, conductors, inverters, transformers, and balance-of-plant equipment.
Strong working knowledge of DC electrical theory and advanced troubleshooting methods for safe and effective work within photovoltaic (PV) arrays.
Ability to troubleshoot network, communications, and telemetry-related issues.
Familiarity with substation operations, including switching plans, one-line diagrams, field drawings, and as-built documentation

Responsibilities

Perform advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, testing, and repair of solar equipment and systems with minimal supervision.
Serve as a regional technical resource for corrective maintenance activities and escalated troubleshooting across multiple sites.
Travel extensively (approximately 75 percent) to support maintenance activities.
Perform detailed electrical testing across low, medium, and high voltage systems including inverters, trackers, MV equipment, and substations.
Utilize system monitoring applications, SCADA, and plant data to diagnose issues.
Support root cause analysis and provide technical recommendations to prevent repeat failures.
Coordinate with site personnel and management during maintenance activities.
Maintain thorough documentation, including work orders and technical reports.
