Job description

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) oversees sales operations across an assigned region, directing District Sales Managers, Sales Representatives, and support staff to meet strategic and operational goals. This leadership role is responsible for implementing company initiatives, managing budgets, and driving market share growth.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Guide team members in identifying and developing sales opportunities.
  • Create regional market strategies aligned to sales goals.
  • Ensure execution of CRM-driven business plans and monitor pipeline activities.
  • Develop regional strategic, operational, and budget plans.
  • Meet or exceed budgeted sales volumes based on region size and potential.
  • Lead all sales and support staff in regional promotions, training, and installations.
  • Implement annual and strategic plans effectively across the region.
  • Advise National Sales Manager on staffing and strategic alignment.
  • Hire, train, and manage team performance.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to address product issues and opportunities.
  • Oversee regional site visits, support plans, and training efforts.
  • Align internal sales force and ISAs with customer relationships.
  • Monitor goals and expenses, adjusting as needed.
  • Stay informed of market trends and influence strategy shifts.
  • Recommend pricing, technical, or market adaptations.
  • Maintain visibility within the industry and key accounts.
  • Represent SOPREMA at associations and within communities.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure alignment and market responsiveness.
  • Communicate clearly and encourage team alignment.
  • Foster accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Resolve strategic conflicts and guide staff through challenging issues.
  • Provide management solutions for complex sales situations and policy matters.
  • Host regular team meetings and one-on-ones to foster team development.
  • Provide quarterly feedback and annual appraisals for direct reports and Independent Sales Agents.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in sales and leadership within the building materials industry.
  • Deep knowledge of CRM systems and market development.
  • Proven success in exceeding sales goals and strategic thinking.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and leadership capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing and distribution processes.
  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape for the assigned region.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Organizational, time management, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communicator with strong coaching, team building, and leadership skills

Working Conditions and/or Physical Demands:

  • Frequent travel throughout the region, and occasional travel to Wadsworth, OH, other areas of the United States, and Canada. The position can expect to be away from their home office for several days per month.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, fly in an airplane, drive long distances, and navigate stairs/ladders.
  • Daily work schedule can vary depending on circumstances, including occasional evenings/weekends.

Reports to the National Sales Manager with possible matrix reporting to other US Brand National Sales Managers.
