Regional Sales Director, Higher Education Academia (Central Region)

We are seeking a Regional Sales Director – Higher Education Academia (Central Region) to lead our Academia and Government Segment Sales division. This role involves managing sales teams to meet objectives related to sales, revenue, account retention, growth, and other metrics set by senior leadership. You will develop and implement sales strategies, maintain strong customer relationships, and align supporting teams to achieve shared goals. Additionally, you will influence the strategic direction of the sales department and contribute to overall business strategies.

About You – Experience, Education, Skills, And Accomplishments
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 10+ years of industry experience in selling into higher education, education technology, or research markets
  • 3+ years of experience as a sales leader
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business administration or relevant advanced degrees
  • Experience managing a territory of at least $75 million with hundreds of academic/research accounts
  • Experience selling information services, solutions, strategic consulting, enterprise software, or analytics
  • Proven track record of revenue growth within managed accounts/territories
  • Knowledge of forecasting, deal cadence, and deal management principles
  • Effective team performance management skills
  • Strategic relationship development skills
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PowerBI) and CRM systems like Salesforce
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of approximately 6 direct reports and coordinate sales activities with specialist, renewal, and customer success teams
  • Lead, direct, and review team work to achieve operational targets and contribute to long-term organizational success
  • Influence stakeholder groups and promote acceptance of policies and practices
  • Shape departmental strategic initiatives and provide input on organizational strategies
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and feedback to foster team growth
  • Make staffing decisions for the team
