Job description

Job Description: Regional Sales Director (RSD)
Reports To: Executive Vice President of Sales
Location: Remote (territory assigned at hire based on region and candidate location) Classification: W-2, full-time
Why Echelon:

Echelon is a full-service merchant services provider with 20 years in business, built on relationships that last. We own our entire 360 departmental infrastructure, including risk, underwriting, deployment, and US based support, all in house. Backed by Echelon Shield (PCI DSS Level 1 certified security) and attrition rates among the lowest in the industry, we operate in every major and medium market across the country. RSDs at Echelon build teams on a platform merchants stay with, which means residuals that compound rather than churn.

Position Summary:

The Regional Sales Director (RSD) is a key leadership role within Echelon, responsible for building, growing, and driving the performance of a regional sales team, potentially from the ground up. The RSD recruits and leads a team of 1099 sellers, working to ensure the team meets and exceeds sales targets while providing hands-on coaching and development. This role involves a combination of direct sales leadership, recruiting, strategic planning, and team development to contribute to the overall success of Echelon.

Scope and Targets:
  • Build the region, potentially from the ground up, to 10+ active producing agents within the first 12 months.
  • Drive 35+ new merchant activations per month across the team by end of year one.
  • This is a leadership-first role. Personal production is welcome and compensated but not required; the RSD is measured on team output.
  • Manage and lead a regional team of sellers, ensuring that the team consistently meets or exceeds monthly sales targets.
  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with overall company goals.
  • Coaching and Development:
  • Provide continuous coaching to sellers, enhancing their sales techniques, product knowledge, and overall effectiveness.
  • Ensure that all team members are utilizing Echelon’s development resources, including training programs, sales tools, and performance analytics, to maximize their potential.
  • Conduct regular check-ins and provide support to sellers in achieving their goals.
Recruitment and Onboarding:
  • Personally source, interview, and hire sales talent within the assigned region, and review the candidate pipeline with the Recruiting team and the Executive Vice President of Sales.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new sellers, ensuring they are fully equipped and integrated into the Echelon sales culture and process.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Regularly monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
  • Report on regional sales performance to senior sales leadership, providing insights, projections, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders within the region.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for escalations and high-level client interactions within the region.
  • Collaborate with the sales leadership team to share best practices and align strategies.
  • Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of sales experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing sales teams.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets, with experience in the payments or financial services industry preferred.
  • Experience recruiting, managing, or producing within a 1099 sales model strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities, with a focus on team development and performance improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of accountability and ownership.
  • Working Conditions:
  • This position may require travel within the region to meet with sellers, clients, and attend industry events.
  • The role offers flexibility, with the ability to work remotely and manage a geographically dispersed team.
  • Compensation:
  • Base salary of [$60,000 to $75,000], commensurate with experience.
  • Override on team production, paid monthly.
  • Residual participation on regional portfolio growth.
  • Performance bonuses tied to recruiting and team activation targets.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
  • Opportunities for career advancement within Echelon.
