Job summary

BMWC Constructors in Portland, Oregon, seeks a Regional Safety Director to lead safety across the Western Region and support the delivery of large industrial construction projects. As the senior safety leader, you will mentor Area Safety Managers and Project Safety staff, drive program execution, investigations, regulatory compliance, and risk management in partnership with regional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• CHST certification and OSHA 500 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction required; CSP certification.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive safety experience in industrial or heavy construction.
• Experience leading safety across multiple projects and locations, mentoring safety staff.
• Experience with serious incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards, risk management, and workers’ compensation.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational safety leadership across the Western Region and multiple projects.
• Mentor and develop Area Safety Managers, Project Safety Managers, and project safety staff.
• Integrate safety into business and project planning, execution, and reviews.
• Oversee safety programs, audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
• Ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance and support inspections and inquiries.
• Collaborate with HR, Risk, Legal, and Operations on workers’ compensation and risk management.
• Travel regularly to project sites and represent safety in client meetings and pursuits.
