Role Description

The regional reporter is a full-time, on-site role located in Norfolk, NE. This position is responsible for covering regional news, including local government, community events, public safety, and human-interest stories, with an emphasis on accuracy, fairness and timeliness. Day-to-day tasks include researching and developing story ideas, conducting interviews, verifying information, and writing clear, engaging news articles for print and online platforms. The regional reporter also will collaborate with editors and other newsroom staff on story planning, contribute to multimedia coverage such as photos or short video clips, and attend meetings or events as needed to maintain strong community connections. The role requires meeting deadlines, adapting to breaking news situations, and upholding the publication’s standards of ethical journalism.
