The E.W. Scripps Company in Norfolk, VA seeks an Executive Reporter to lead storytelling across platforms and mentor reporters/MMJs. You will collaborate with newsroom leaders, oversee story writing, and drive workflow efficiency while upholding journalistic standards.
Expect to contribute to on-air and multi-platform coverage for breaking news and lead diverse storytelling initiatives within the Norfolk newsroom.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in related discipline preferred, or equivalent years of experience.
- 7+ years of experience in related field preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in storytelling.
- Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.
- Curiosity for the community, city, state and world we report on daily.
- Deep understanding of the content strategy.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, early morning, and holidays.
Responsabilités
- Lead, develop, and enhance storytelling skills of all reporters and MMJs.
- Collaborate with newsroom leaders to execute the content strategy.
- Oversee writing of stories for all platforms; provide timely feedback.
- Develop and supervise workflow strategies for multiple news programs.
- Ensure content adheres to journalistic standards and ethics.
- Deliver a vision and build trust among reporters and staff.
- May provide on-air, multi-platform coverage for breaking news as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
