Job summary

The Dept of Emergency Management in Virginia seeks a Regional Preparedness Coordinator for Region 6 to drive statewide preparedness initiatives locally and coordinate regional programs that support emergency operations before, during, and after disasters.

You will complete FEMA Basic Academy and Planning Practitioner Program, with two days of telework per week, while onsite for essential duties. Equal Opportunity Employer.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of emergency management principles across mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
• Proficient skills in Microsoft Office and emergency management information systems.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, assess risks and capability gaps, support operational decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Implement statewide preparedness initiatives within their assigned region.
• Coordinate regional preparedness programs and support emergency operations across four phases.
• Provide technical assistance to local governments, institutions, and partners.
