Job summary

Meta seeks an experienced professional to lead local government affairs across the United States, supporting data center site strategy. You will engage with cities, counties, municipalities, and regional bodies to advance data center priorities and strengthen community relationships where Meta builds and operates.

The role reports to the Public Policy Manager, Local Government Affairs and can be based remotely in Indiana or Ohio, with frequent travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in political science, business/strategy, economics, legal, communications, public relations, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in state or local public policy, advocacy, or government affairs.
• Experience with the political process, policymakers, and stakeholders in data center site locations.
• Knowledge of technology, infrastructure, data center, and economic development policy.
• Experience working cross-functionally.
• Proven advocacy campaigns targeting state/local government with milestones.
• Creative problem-solving, negotiation, and multi-tasking in time-sensitive settings.
• Ability to communicate nuanced concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead Meta's local government affairs across current and future data center sites in the United States.
• Build and execute a national local government affairs strategy for data center site objectives.
• Work with local policymakers to advance data center infrastructure investment and economic development.
• Monitor political environment to identify opportunities for local policy advancement.
• Coordinate with Infrastructure and Data Center teams to align policy with site development timelines.
• Engage with industry groups, nonprofits, municipal associations, and legislative bodies to promote economic development and open internet.
• Partner with Community Engagement to engage chambers of commerce and associations to advance priorities.
• Provide timely updates to cross-functional partners on local policy developments.
• Manage relationships with policymakers, contract lobbyists, and trade associations in the region.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
