Direct Hire
Salary: $185K-$205K Base (Tentative; Client Confirmation Pending)
Potential flexibility up to $240K | Target Bonus: 30% (Unconfirmed)
Interview Process: Approximately three stages, including recruiter screening, hiring manager/panel interviews, and final leadership review.
The Regional PMO Lead is a strategic, director-level leadership position responsible for driving PMO transformation, strengthening project delivery, and establishing consistent governance across regional Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) operations.
This individual will own the regional PMO transformation roadmap, establish measurable outcomes, and improve delivery effectiveness across people, processes, and technology. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on transformation experience, strong portfolio and program management capabilities, and the ability to translate complex project data into meaningful executive insights.
This is not a traditional project management position. The successful candidate must demonstrate experience establishing or improving PMO operating models, driving organizational change, and building repeatable structures that improve execution and accountability across multiple teams and client accounts.
Required Skills:
Lead the regional PMO transformation strategy, developing and executing a comprehensive roadmap with defined milestones, priorities, KPIs, and measurable business outcomes.
Demonstrate experience leading or significantly contributing to PMO or organizational transformation initiatives involving people, processes, technology, and governance.
Establish and continuously improve PMO governance frameworks, operating models, standardized methodologies, reporting structures, and decision‑making processes.
Provide strategic portfolio leadership, connecting project performance to client commitments, financial impact, operational priorities, and regional business objectives.
Implement integrated planning, dependency management, RAID processes, risk identification, and proactive escalation procedures to improve project execution.
Develop and monitor PMO performance metrics, KPIs, project cost benchmarks, and delivery trends to identify opportunities for efficiency and continuous improvement.
Ensure the accuracy and reliability of project reporting through appropriate controls, data validation, and standardized measurement practices.
Translate complex project and portfolio data into actionable executive‑level insights, identifying risks, trends, blockers, and decisions requiring leadership attention.
Work directly with project managers and delivery teams to identify challenges, remove roadblocks, and improve execution across multiple initiatives.
Establish effective governance and escalation forums that drive timely decisions, accountability, and measurable improvements rather than simply reporting project status.
Drive a proactive, shift‑left approach to project planning, dependency management, risk mitigation, and issue resolution.
Partner with Client Delivery Leaders, project managers, technology teams, operations, and shared services to align priorities, responsibilities, and business outcomes.
Support the adoption and effectiveness of shared PMO support models, including PSS, to improve project management capacity and operational efficiency.
Demonstrate strong business judgment, strategic thinking, executive communication, and the ability to influence stakeholders within a complex matrixed organization.
Bring hands‑on program and project delivery experience, with the ability to challenge existing processes and implement sustainable improvements.
Bonus/Soft Skills:
Preferred 3-7+ years of relevant experience in PMO transformation, portfolio governance, or large‑scale program leadership. Candidates with additional experience are encouraged, provided they demonstrate measurable transformation outcomes and strategic leadership.
Experience supporting large‑scale business transformation, PMO modernization, or organizational change initiatives.
Experience within Medicaid, MMIS, healthcare technology, government services, or other complex client‑facing delivery environments.
PMP certification preferred; demonstrated application of project management best practices is more important than certification alone.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
Experience developing transformation playbooks, operating models, and organizational structures.
Strong understanding of PMO cost efficiency, industry benchmarks, resource utilization, and portfolio financial performance.
Experience building or improving executive dashboards, performance reporting, and governance controls.
Proven ability to balance strategic transformation leadership with hands‑on problem‑solving and execution.
Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently, challenge existing approaches, and drive accountability across multiple teams.
Experience influencing senior leadership and managing complex client relationships.
