Job summary

Blue River PetCare seeks a Regional Operations Manager on the East Coast to lead daily clinic operations for 15+ hospitals and support future acquisitions. The role travels up to 75% by car or plane and collaborates with local veterinarians to maintain high care standards.

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Three years of veterinary management and two years of multi-unit management are required, with proven P&L oversight. Competitive salary with annual incentive bonuses available.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations of 15+ Blue River PetCare hospitals with the aim of revenue and profit growth
  • Collaborate with local management and veterinarians to maintain high patient care standards
  • Act as liaison between hospitals and Blue River management, reporting findings and recommending profitability improvements
  • Provide staffing support for inventory, scheduling, compliance, training, recruitment, and retention best practices
  • Ensure hospital compliance with OSHA, DEA, AVMA, and local regulations
  • Maintain familiarity with Blue River platforms and corporate policies
  • Coach local managers on revenue/expense control, staffing, scheduling, inventory, pricing, and administration
  • Foster a positive, productive clinic environment and recruit/train practice managers
  • Partner with HR on employee relations, compliance, and issue mitigation
  • Work with corporate on capital expenditures and vendor considerations
  • Perform practice manager duties as needed
  • Handle other duties and projects as assigned

Job description

This team member must reside on the East Coast, have prior multisite veterinary operations leadership experience, and able to travel 75% via car/plane.

The Regional Operations Manager supports local practice management with daily operations for current and future clinic acquisitions.

  • Supervise operations of 15+ Blue River PetCare hospitals with goal of generating revenue and profit growth
  • Work with local management team and veterinarians to ensure high standard of patient care
  • Act as liaison between hospitals and Blue River management, reporting visit findings and offering recommendations on improving profitability
  • Provide staffing support regarding inventory, scheduling, compliance, training, recruiting, and best retention practices
  • Ensure Hospital compliance with OSHA, DEA, AVMA and local regulations
  • Maintain proficiency on Blue River PetCare platforms and all policies
  • Coach local management team on managing revenue & expenses, staffing, scheduling, inventory levels, pricing, and other administrative functions
  • Foster positive and productive work environment at local clinics
  • Recruit, onboard, and train practice managers
  • Partner with Human Resources team on employee relations, compliance, issue mitigation and best practices
  • Partner with corporate operations on capital expenditures, liability issues, and vendor considerations
  • Perform duties of practice manager for hospitals as needed
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.

Basic Qualifications
  • Three years of veterinary management AND two years of multi-unit management experience required
  • Experience managing profit and loss statement and delivering positive financial results required
  • Highly motivated self-starter with ability to take initiative and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organization, attentional to detail, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a timely manner
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding personnel information
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to travel to clinics as needed
  • Must be licensed and able to operate motor vehicle and travel via automobile or airPosition requires both stationary sitting and to be on feet for substantial periods of time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about clinics to access inventory, check controlled substances cabinets, and inspect grounds
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with Practice Managers and co-workers at the Corporate office using email and phone; must be able to exchange clear, accurate information in these situations
  • Occasionally moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent keyboarding/use of computer for data entry
Technical Skills
  • Must be versed in veterinary practice management systems
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of AVMA’s code of ethics
  • Knowledge of DEA and OSHA regulations
  • General understanding of current employment laws

Salary Range: $90,000-95,000 per year

This position may be eligible to participate in the Company's incentive bonus program, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable bonus plan.
