Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, is seeking a Regional Operations Manager in Swedesboro, NJ to lead inside sales, warehousing, inventory, seal repair, machining, assembly, CAD engineering, and procurement coordination for timely production and cost efficiency.

You will supervise a diverse team, develop procedures, and drive continuous improvement while meeting safety and environmental standards. A bachelor’s degree and 6+ years in manufacturing are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 6 years working in a manufacturing environment involving mechanical seals/rotating equipment, inventory, material management, and distribution.
• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Supervisory experience with a diverse workforce.
• Knowledge of integrated business and manufacturing systems operations involving MRP.
• Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Process (CIP).
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to accommodate business operations.
• Machine shop experience is a big plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise personnel; schedule work, manage overtime, cross-train, and manage personnel actions.
• Provide leadership through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
• Develop and monitor operating procedures in order processing, inventory control, customer service, seal repair, machining, and assembly; train personnel.
• Handle inquiries by phone, fax, mail orders, and quotations; provide pricing information and quotes.
• Must be computer savvy; create reports using Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
• Interpret and implement company policies.
• Manage inventory system to optimize customer order requirements while maintaining capacity utilization and minimal excess inventory.
• Approve ordering parts from vendors and authorize substitute part numbers.
• Achieve monthly forecasts, backlog management, and on-time delivery.
• Manage annual operating budgets and oversee facility maintenance.
• Analyze operations problems and initiate corrective action.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental rules.
