Job summary

John Crane, a business of Smiths Group, seeks a Manufacturing Service Branch Manager to lead inside sales, warehouse, inventory, seal repair, machining, assembly, CAD engineering and procurement. The role drives timely production at the best cost and proper quantities.

The ideal candidate will supervise diverse teams, develop SOPs, analyze data with Excel/Power BI, and manage budgets while ensuring safety and compliance in a global manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent.
• 6+ years in a manufacturing environment with seals/rotating equipment, inventory, material management and distribution.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Supervisory experience managing a diverse workforce.
• Knowledge of integrated business and manufacturing systems operations involving MRP.
• Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Process (CIP).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to liaise across levels.
• Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Supervise personnel; schedule work, manage overtime, cross-train, and manage personnel actions.
• Provide leadership for the team through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
• Develop and monitor operating procedures for order processing, inventory control, and customer service.
• Handle inquiries on pricing, part identification, applications, delivery dates, change orders, and seal repair service.
• Create reports using Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
• Manage inventory systems to optimize demand while minimizing excess.
• Approve ordering parts from vendors; authorize substitutions.
• Meet monthly forecasts, backlog management, and on-time delivery.
• Oversee annual operating budgets and facility maintenance.
• Analyze operations problems and initiate corrective action.
• Ensure safety, health and environmental rules are met.
• Additional duties as assigned.
